Arriving into Zambia’s capital city, Lusaka, you’ll take a domestic flight to Mfuwe and transfer to South Luangwa National Park. You’ll be staying in the Crocodile Nest at Flatdogs Camp, a large tented house with two en-suite bedrooms, spacious living areas and a private swimming pool. Flatdogs pride themselves on their family-friendly ambiance, offering a great children’s menu, room service meals and a nanny service when you need time alone.

Begin your Zambia family safari adventure with wildlife-watching in South Luangwa National Park via morning and evening game drives. Big game favourites to look out for include giraffe, wildebeest, elephant, leopard, zebra, buffalo, lion and hyena. Don’t miss out on Zambia’s speciality walking safaris. Head out into the open bush with a local guide and park ranger, who can show you a higher level of detail about the environment, tiny critters you may otherwise miss, and how they track animals. (Note that age limits can apply for this activity). Look out for some of Zambia’s endemic sub-species, such as Thornicroft’s giraffe, Crawshay’s zebra and Cookson’s wildebeest.

Next, you’ll exchange Kafue for Lower Zambezi National Park, taking a domestic flight to Jeki and a transfer to the park. You’ll be staying at the five-star Potato Bush Camp comprised of three canvas and rosewood safari tents, as well as a two-bedroom family house. Enjoy the luxurious facilities, including a private balcony area and a large plunge pool.

Located at the southern limit of Africa’s Great Rift Valley, Lower Zambezi National Park covers over 4,000 square kilometres and is bordered by the might Zambezi River. Here, you’ll be able to see elephant, impala, lion, hyena, hippo, bushbuck, kudu, leopard, buffalo and zebra, as well as lesser-known and rarer species such as the African wild cat, mongoose, serval, porcupine, African wild dog, side-striped jackal, genet, civet, honey badger and aardvark.

After 10 days of exciting safari activities, it’s now time to leave the national parks behind and head to Livingstone, the gateway to Victoria Falls. You’ll take a domestic flight to Livingstone. On arrival, transfer to your accommodation at Chundukwa River Lodge’s family house, complete with a private deck and swimming pool. This riverside property offers peace and privacy just 25 kilometres out of town with stunning views of the Zambezi River. Your meals will be prepared at the family house by a dedicated team of staff, who will look after you and your family during your stay.

Kids full of energy will love abseiling, zipling and white-water rafting, whilst smaller children may enjoy a walk along the footpaths to beautiful views of the falls, spotting rainbows in the billowing clouds of spray.
Continue your second day at the falls with more enjoyable family activities. If you’re feeling brave, take a helicopter ride over the falls for a bird’s eye view, bungee jump off the Victoria Falls Bridge or swim out to the lip of Devil’s Pool, right on the edge of the cascades. If you’re looking for something a little tamer, you can explore the surrounding bushlands on horseback with Ride Zambezi Horse Trails, which can be enjoyed by riders of all levels, including children.

220 Volts/AC50Hz. Sockets are UK style, 3 pin square plugs. Power is from the government in the city/major towns and generator with inverter back up in the Safari Lodges and Camps.
Currency:
Foreign currency must be changed at the Bank, Bureau de Change, and Hotel/Safari lodge/Camp/Resort.  Major Credit Cards, Master card, Visa, American Express, are usually accepted throughout the country. Where credit cards are accepted, the payment will normally be recorded in US$ regardless of the card’s default currency.
Clothing:
Dress is mainly informal and should be comfortable as well as practical. Something warm should be brought along for early morning and evenings. Safari clothes are available from hotels/lodges/camps.
Baggage:
Where possible, travel light. Baggage space on safari is limited to medium suitcase or soft bag per person plus reasonable amount of hand luggage. There is 15 Kilogram per person limit on all flights to the wildlife sanctuaries. Excess luggage must be stored in your arrival hotel.
Water:
You will find many different of opinion of what is safe and what is not. We recommend for peace of mind, to drink local Bottled Mineral water. It is important to drink plenty of water especially during the hotter months. We would recommend that guests drink at least 2 to 3 liters of water per day to limit the effects of dehydration.
Health;
East Africa is a safe and secure destination; however, it is a good idea to take a few precautions. Kindly consult your GP or local doctor at least 6 weeks before you travel, with regards: Malaria prophylactics. East Africa is a known malaria area and preventive measures are essential.
You are advised to take one of the recommended anti-malarial drugs. Be sure to wear long sleeved shorts and trousers after sunset and spray the exposed parts of your body with a mosquito repellent spray Remember to protect yourself from direct sun rays with sunscreen cream or safari hat.
