South Luangwa National Park

The South Luangwa National Park is a true hidden gem popular for being home of the walking safari. The park has one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries on the continent and has an outstanding population of leopard, good numbers of lion and other mammals, and herds of springing antelope around every corner.

How to add Luangwa on your Zambia Safari.

The South Luangwa National Park fits perfectly into any Zambia Safari itinerary, as the wildlife are the start of the show, there are plenty of flight connections to allow travelers even drive in from Lusaka.

Once you are in the park, you could happily spend a week walking between bush camps along the river, perhaps with a night at a larger lodge at the beginning or end of your safari. These multi-day walking safaris are the specialty of South Luangwa National Park and best done by combining the camps and lodges.

10 Days Cape Town

While on a Zambia Safari in Luangwa, try Luwi, Nsolo and Kakuli bush camps and end with a night of luxury at Chinzombo, or head south to Chindeni and Chamilandu, followed by Mfuwe Lodge.

 Lower Zambezi National Park

From Luangwa National Park – home of the walking safari, head to Lower Zambezi – home to the most varied activities on any Zambia Safari. Located in the central-southern part of Zambia, the park is bordered by the might Zambezi River to the South and is a mix of beautiful leadwood and fig forest and rolling grassplains.

This section of the river is broad and free flowing allowing for fabulous canoe safaris and boat safari as well as a grand opportunity to fish for Tiger fish and traditional game drives and walking safaris. Often wildlife congregate on the banks of the river, buffaloes, lions and swimming elephants are not unusual. the big cats are also common in the park, though there are no cheetahs.
